Western Railway RRC Recruitment Eligibility criteria

Educational Qualification: Candidates applying for the Apprentice Posts should meet one of the following criteria:

  • 10th pass from a recognized board, OR
  • Possess an ITI certificate from institutions recognized by NCVT/SCVT, OR
  • Hold an equivalent qualification, OR
  • Possess a National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) granted by NCVT in any given trade.

Age Limit: The minimum and maximum age limits for eligibility are as follows:

  • Minimum Age: 15 years
  • Maximum Age: 24 years (Note: The age will be calculated as of 27th July 2023)

Relaxation in Upper Age Limit: There may be relaxation in the upper age limit for certain reserved categories as per government norms.

Western Railway RRC Recruitment selection mode

  1. Merit List: The selection of eligible applicants for training under the Apprentice Act, 1961 will be based on a merit list. The merit list will be prepared by calculating the average percentage of marks obtained by the applicants in both Matriculation (with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks) and ITI examination. Equal weightage will be given to both.
  2. Age Preference: In case two applicants have the same marks in the merit list, the applicant with older age will be preferred. If the dates of birth are the same, then the applicant who passed the matriculation examination earlier will be considered first.
  3. No Written Test or Viva: There will be no written test or viva conducted as part of the selection process.

Applicants are not required to send any copies of their application, certificates, or documents to RRC/WR by post. However, they need to upload the required documents online as part of the application process.

SSC/Matriculation Marks: The total marks obtained in all subjects mentioned in the Marksheet will be considered for calculating the percentage. This includes all subjects, including optional subjects, additional subjects, alternate subjects, etc. If the applicant’s marks are in CGPA format, they should convert it to actual marks and enter them in the online application. It’s important to note that the final score should be calculated by adding the marks of all subjects, not just a specific group of subjects.

The marks mentioned in the Provisional National Trade Certificate issued by NCVT/SCVT should be duly entered by the applicant in the online application.

c. Discrepancy in Marks: Applicants should be careful to enter the correct Marks/CGPA in the online application. If any discrepancy is found between the marks entered in the application and the original Marksheet/Certificate during the Document Verification process, the candidature of the applicant will be rejected.

  1. Trade-wise/Community-wise Merit List: Each concerned Division/Unit will issue a trade-wise and community-wise merit list for the notified slots. Applicants will be called by the respective Division/Unit based on their merit in the relevant trade and the preferences of Divisions/Workshops they have opted for. If there is a shortfall of candidates in a particular trade in any Division/Workshop, Western Railway reserves the right to redistribute the candidates to other Divisions/Workshops.
  2. Verification of Original Testimonials and Medical Fitness: The final selection of applicants will be subject to the verification of original testimonials and a Medical Fitness Certificate as per Annexure G. It is important to provide the required original documents for verification during this stage.
  3. Stand-by List: A stand-by list will be created, and call letters will be issued to candidates from the stand-by list based on the details of absentees, medically unfit candidates, and rejected candidates from the main merit list. The call letters will be issued strictly in the order of merit.
  4. Tentative Schedule: The tentative schedule for document/certificate verification will be uploaded on the official website, as and when the pandemic situation improves. Applicants are advised to be prepared and available at short notice to report to the allotted Divisions/Workshops for the verification process.

Training Period: The selected applicants will undergo apprenticeship training for a duration of 1 year.
